So the Balas Family is starting a new lifestyle! We are trying our hardest to eat a healthy diet. We are not on a weight loss program rather just trying to cut out junk and put more nutritious items into our mouths! I will be experimenting with new recipes that are on the healthy side and hopefully are practical for a toddler and baby, meaning non time consuming and edible! Wish us luck and enjoy!

Orange Chicken and Fried Rice
I found an orange chicken marinade on the fabulous blog I always talk about, and I actually followed the recipe pretty spot on, I did substitute a little honey out for agave but other than that right on the money. I liked how the chicken cooked up as far as texture went, the flavor was good but I would have liked a more jelly? orangey flavor to it. But all in all not bad! The fried rice is white rice (you could do the brown rice for an extra umph) that I cooked early in the day and let it air dry (it is important that the rice in not fresh) then I took olive oil heated it and added the rice. I then seasoned the rice with garlic and parsley salt (my favorite spice) then after all the rice was coated poured ketchup, soy sauce, and agave over the top. Then I took scrambled eggs and peas (I usually like carrots and chives (the husband never complains about the onions in this specific dish) but had none on hand) then I just kind of mix it and let it fry a little more with all of the sauces and add more of the ketchup, soy, or agave as needed! This rice is actually really really delicious! Anyway this is another one of the non intense veggie dishes. With the rice you really could add more veggies and it would be great I really didn't have a ton of time to play around. A few ideas would be squash, bell peppers, and maybe celery (another sworn enemy of the husband) anyway enjoy!
